Intimate Dallas Arboretum Wedding: Hand-fasting Ceremony

Are you having a small wedding? Are you looking to have a small ceremony at the Dallas Arboretum? I photographed the sweetest, most fun-loving couple at the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden. The thing that really made their special day unique was the hand fasting ceremony. As a photographer, I’ve never experienced anything like this… but I loved every second of it. Because of everything going on, small wedding’s are more popular than ever before. AND I AM HERE FOR IT! I truly enjoyed every single moment and really took it all in.

The two places to have an intimate ceremony is the Poetry Garden and Nancy’s Garden. They had only a hand full of people attend and it was so beautiful. Pictured below, this small wedding took place at Nancy’s Garden.

“Handfasting is an ancient Celtic ritual in which the hands are tied together to symbolize the binding of two lives. While it is most often included in Wiccan or Pagan ceremonies, it has become more mainstream and pops up in both religious and secular vows and readings.

Essentially, a hand-fasting ceremony is another way to bind two people together, as one! No rings, just a cord. They stood face to face, held hands and tied the knot (literally)! This couple had the most important people come to their intimate wedding to celebrate their love. It was so beautiful. The weather was perfect. The foliage was so bright. Everything was PERFECT.
